Volunteer Programs

The Volunteer Programs at Palma Sola Botanical Park are an opportunity for citizens of Manatee County to get involved in many different ways. We seek volunteers in the following areas:

  • Gardening,
  • guides,
  • reception desk,
  • gift shop,
  • administrative office,
  • special events,
  • teachers,
  • artists and
  • maintenance crew.

We provide volunteer positions for all ages: a preschooler can learn to weed the butterfly garden, and teens need volunteer hours for service and school activities.

A special volunteer program is now in place with monthly park workdays has been successful, using park members, board members and community/school groups.

We also have a group of individuals who work on Palma Sola Botanical Park Foundation’s special events.

Our Coordinator defines all volunteer roles at the Park and has compiled a volunteer handbook and volunteer application forms.

We offer speaking tours combined with the education program to locate volunteers and create an awareness of volunteer opportunities at the park.

Appropriate volunteer training sessions are regularly scheduled, and marketing materials and press releases written. A volunteer database is being maintained. Our volunteer recognition program features an annual awards event.
